At the centre of Lord Street is more than likely the most incredible war memorials in Britain with a centrally placed obelisk and two other memorials on each side which have huge columns. Lord Street has some of Southport’s finest architecture and it is where you will discover the enchanting Wayfarers’ Arcade.

Hesketh Park
At the very end Lord Street you will discover the wonderful Hesketh Park. Hesketh Park gets its name from the Hesketh family just like Lord Street the park has plenty of trees. Hesketh Park also features hidden gardens, a bandstand, glass house, play park and more however the most prominent feature is the gorgeous lake.
Botanic Gardens
At Churchtown you will find another wonderful park, the Botanic Gardens which has a a long expanse of water set out to appear rather like a river which features plenty of wildlife, swans and ducks plus an ornate bridge and boating and if you enjoy animals and birds the Botanic Gardens also has a small zoo, just opposite the museum and cafe. Churchtown village is a beautiful group of old fishermen’s cottages, cottages and houses most commonly white and small number feature a roof of thatch. It is crucial that you take a walk around and that you look around every corner becaus there are a few hidden places of interest well worth the trouble to discover.
