It’s also a must to call the guests and to ask them if they have received your invites. Guests who live out of the state can be mailed a week ahead of time. The RSVP date for them should be set at 3 weeks prior to the wedding date.
For couples who choose to have a destination wedding, there should be at least 3 weeks for guests to RSVP. The guests need to work on travel arrangements and other stuff that’s why you shouldn’t be unjust by rushing them up with last-minute invites.
One of the unspoken etiquettes of sending wedding invitations is for the couple to not invite guests on the phone, through email or even fax. It is a major no-no! You can go ahead and decide to pay your guests a visit and ask them personally but it is never good manners to just depend on fax, email and your cell phone.
