Time and again possessing a college degree means that you have adequate knowledge and is qualified for a particular kind of job and because not everyone possess a college degree having one is tantamount to immediate employment. However, currently there are many questions on where a college degree will get you. Companies no longer look exclusively for people who have diplomas. More important is having the preparation and on the job experience to do the work.
Firms and employers have recognized that the problem with college is that it teaches you to do very little. University students need to go to a lot of courses, majority of which are not related to their primary courses. There are no hands-on classes. Most classes are lecture classes, in rooms filled with many other college students. Most businesses would prefer to hire people that have experience related to the job in order to ensure that he or she is capable of doing his or her job right. Technical schools provide courses that are now regarded highly by many companies because students from technical schools underwent intense training and are taught by experts in their various fields.
For most students, the decision to attend technical schools is much more advantageous than where a college degree will get you. Technical schools offer programs that are more affordable than those courses offered in college, these programs cost around $5,000-$100,000, of course this will rely on the school that you choose. The cost of most technical schools is much less, ranging from a few hundred to $2,000, depending on the course. With a technical school, you spend much less time taking classes because you do not have to take any demands outside of your major. With college, it is so time consuming that most people wind up having to cut back their hours at their jobs or stop altogether. This puts a monetary strain on, because tuition can be expensive.
Another problem with university is that there is little opportunity for work using the college. Educational institutions are known for helping their students find employment in well known businesses. However, few of these companies turn to colleges to recruit students. A college employment office can assist students create an impressive resume and prepares them for interviews but it does not help them land jobs that actually pays, which is unlike a technical school.
Right now, where a college degree will get you is uncertain. More and more people are obtaining college degrees, while companies are taking less and less employees. Colleges are inept to truly train students and teach them a job. Educational institutions are great for background knowledge on how to perform a job and most employers are mindful of this fact.
