In the majority of cases Gold Coast holiday accommodation will be described as “fully self contained”. That can be taken to mean that the apartment is fully equipped for self catering, fully furnished and providing “home away from home” apartment style lodgings. Visitors and holiday makers who prefer a traditional hotel suite and on-site restaurant will find several quality hotels in the Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach areas.
Once the holiday apartment is booked, guests need only bring their clothing, personal effects and foodstuffs. Everything else necessary for the vacation is provided in the apartment. There may be some variations between individual properties but the following inclusions are typical of fully self contained accommodation :
- Fully equipped kitchen with electric stove (range), oven, refrigerator and microwave
- All kitchen cutlery, cookware, glassware and crockery
- Tea and coffee making facilities
- Bedroom, bathroom and kitchen linen
- Laundry washer and dryer
- Clothes iron and ironing board
- Clothes hangers
- Brooms, dust pan and cleaning utensils
- Color TV and remote control
- Radio
- Hairdryer (from reception if not in apartment)
- Broadband internet connections are now available in most properties
- 1 car park spot in a secured parking garage
Most Gold Coast apartments are now air-conditioned. As a general rule the more modern apartments have ducted air-con throughout the whole apartment , others only provide it to the lounge/dining area.
Some of the older apartment blocks only have ceiling fans and during the height of summer from mid December to early March they rely on sea breezes, sliding patio doors and screened windows to keep room temperatures at a comfortable level. If air conditioning is essential for your comfort always read the published features carefully and ask questions at the time of making your enquiry.
DVD players are now installed in nearly all apartments and the hire of movies is available from the front desk. Nearly all properties now offer cable or satellite TV services , and an increasing number of properties are providing internet connections. Some provide connectivity in the guest apartment and others provide an internet kiosk facility.
Apartments servicing is usually done on a 7 or 10 day cycle with more frequent servicing available by arrangement with management for an extra cost.
The front desk will always be able to offer guests a booking service for local tours, entertainment, car hire and airport transfers. This is a always a complementary service.
