If you’re planning for a family vacation or weekend getaway, take the time to plan for your road trip. While it’s great you’re checking out websites to map out your destination, don’t forget the fundamental rules on how to make your road trip relaxing and enjoyable.
Music/DVDS – check
Who would have thought that aside making time pass, music also helped you realize that you could also be on American Idol. Good classical CD or music from a popular kid’s show can help keep your children occupied. If your vehicle has a DVD player then bring some movies for the kids. Besides helping pass the time, music can also keep your kids occupied as well inspire the family for a sing-a-long.
Snacks – check
Snacks are also essential on road trips. Bringing snacks may be simple but it’s still easily forgotten, because usually people are in a hurry to leave. When you bring snacks like fruit cups and yogurt, don’t forget to bring the plastic utensils as well. Also, don’t forget to bring paper towels, napkins, and cleaning wipes. Sometimes, when you put kids and food and a moving car altogether, the result is usually a mess.
Remember to bring entertainment for the kids
Other things that can keep your kids occupied are toys, books, and games. You can also try verbal games like “I spy with my eye” to help pass the time and get your family involved. As long as your kids are occupied, traveling doesn’t have to be stressful or distracting.
Don’t forget the emergency supplies
Emergency supplies are also important, so consider bringing things like blankets and first aid kits. You’ll be more at ease knowing you have basic supplies with you, just in case of emergencies or really bad traffic.
Don’t forget to check your vehicle first
Getting your vehicle tuned up is important before you hit the road. Make sure your fluids are up the proper levels and also consider getting an oil change. That way, you won’t get car trouble when you’re in unfamiliar territory.
With these simple suggestions, your family road trip wouldn’t be stressful so that when you arrive at your destination, you’ll still be in a good mood with plenty of energy to spare.
