Spending Time In Cardiff And Things To See And Do

Cardiff is not just the Welsh capital city, but also the most popular tourist destination in Wales and the United Kingdom of Great Britain other than England’s capital, London. The city is also the biggest Welsh city, but the city was only but a reasonably small town until the start of the nineteenth century. It was during the early 19C that the town of Cardiff saw itself develop into a large seaport boosted by the coal from local areas, together with various other industries. Cardiff received city status, from King Edward VII of England, on 28th October 1905, but, strangely, it only became the capital of Wales on the twentieth of December nineteen fifty five.

After the declaration of Cardiff as capital it very quickly became the perfect place for most national institutions, for example the University of Wales Registry  Building, the Welsh National War Memorial and the National Museum of Wales. For a sustained period of time now the Cardiff Information and Technology business sector has witnessed dramatic rates of expansion along with, to a lesser degree other industry sectors, especially in service industries. Tourism has also grown considerably and these days there are large numbers of hotels offering bed and breakfast accommodation in Cardiff.
