One of the small suburbs of Queensland, Twin Waters, boasts a location excellent for nature explorers. Maroochy River Conservation Park rests virtually in your backyard. For visitors, this would be the backyard of your hotel. More than this, Maroochy River is considered the halfway point along the Sunshine Coast.
One really important reason for the existence of this park is its critical role in protecting nesting and migrating birds. One species, the wedge-tailed shearwater, finds peace and safety here. Gliding squirrels, possum, echidnas, kangaroos and wallabies might also appear in your peripheral vision. Be quiet and slow when turning to get a better view: you could look one in the eye.
The lure of water is like the the draw of iron to a magnet for some. They flock here for the beaches and sports. Surfing, fishing and scuba diving are only three of many popular aquatic activities near Twin Waters.
Though small, your destination is just two kilometers from many larger places to visit, placing guests at a good central location for stops north, south and west. Stop at Mudjimba Beach just two-three kilometers north. Take in shopping malls and coffee shops even closer to your resting spot.
Your local Twin Waters accommodation makes it easy for families on a budget to stay, or for romantic couples to make beautiful memories. Find a caravan park or bed and breakfast. Stay at a high-end resort or hotel.
Twin Waters Resort offers guests many amenities. Send kids to circus school where they will learn the ins and outs of their future career perhaps. Two-wheel segway riding is becoming popular: try some at the resort. For parents, there is always golf or a massage. Two resort restaurants serve meals for morning, afternoon and evening clientele. Alternatively, enjoy a coffee or glass of wine at their cafe and bar respectively. Coffee shops enjoy a strong presence near your lodging.
Go just a few kilometers north and guests hit the mother lode of cafes and restaurants. Italian cuisine appears to be popular with at least two restaurants catering to pasta and gnocchi lovers. Australian cuisine also holds its own fine dining choices close to hand.
Explore further towards the south, north or west and there’s a lot to do. Hire a rental car unless you drove here from some other part of Australia. The zoo that Steve Irwin and his crocodiles made famous is just a short drive south and inland a short distance. Look out for Steve Irwin Way and you know the zoo is near. Mooloolah River Park offers yet another safe haven to wildlife.
Tours of the Sunshine Coast bring guests to shops, spas and wineries. Taste some fine reds and whites. Watch dolphins and whales from a boat. Launch into a race on three wheels with a trike or scuba dive and meet some aquatic friends. For points even further away and a touch of city life, board a train for about an hour on the tracks and you are in Brisbane.
