 Bacterial garden pond filter on the other hand uses good live organisms to purify the water from algae which preys on the fish and pond occupants.   These pumps have to be primed with bacteria before they are set to work cleaning the fish pond water.   They are basically re-primed more frequently than usual in the first few weeks in use, then adjusted in long intervals thereafter.   Algae and the so called “pond scum” pollutants usually don’t survive bacterial filters.   Switching on the particulate pond filter, like the basket filter, will give some long visible results.   Cleaning up fouled water can take a long time to be cleaned by the bacterial filter and this make take some months.   These garden pond filters should be installed before an algae problem manifests to avoid having to clean up the mess after the plants have established themselves.    

 The results of a filtration type have significant effects on the pond volume.    Pond filters is not an area where you should cut corners, just to be sure.  The filters should have the capacity to filter at least half of the pond’s total water volume every hour.  Clearly, for bigger ponds, you should expect to spend a larger amount of money in terms of filtration technology.   Even if this may seem to be extravagant, a good filtration can ensure the fish in your pond remains active and healthy.
