Reminder Eight: Do not leave your car outside in plain view; instead park it inside a locked garage so observers will not think you are away.

Disable connections to the garage door. Unplug it if need be, but leave the fuse on if you intend to leave an appliance running, like a refrigerator that is connected to it.
