If you are searching for the ideal location to spend your honeymoon, I would highly recommend Mauritius. Having just got back home, I can honestly say that it was a brilliant decision , and one that we probably would not have made without it being recommended to us by friends .
Picking a destination isn’t easy , and I decided to leave it to my wife, as my only requirement was that we find somewhere warm . But after learning that she wanted to go to Mauritius, I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive – purely for the reason that I didn’t know much about Mauritius, and had assumed that we’d be heading to the Caribbean.
After much deliberation (on my part) we made the decision to have our honeymoon in Mauritius. We found an internet travel company and managed to get an all inclusive Mauritius holiday at a very reasonable price. The only trouble was that we were not sure how good the hotel was going to be (because it was a new resort ) but once we had arrived any anxieties we had quickly disappeared – the hotel was magnificent !
Mauritius holidays are becoming more and more popular; this is probably to do with the price as much as anything – it’s a lot cheaper than it used to be . But the price – in terms of what you get for your money – is extremely cheap . The climate is tropical , the wildlife is exotic , the people are warm and hospitable , and the accommodation and service are second to none .
During the honeymoon I was happy to chill out by the beach for the entire honeymoon, but my wife being my wife decided that she must see the sights , and soak up some of the culture – which, at first, I thought was code words for shoes and shopping ! So she dragged me along with her on the proviso that I would be able to consume as much ice cream as my body could physically handle . Half expecting my credit card to be kidnapped and mistreated , I made sure that we stopped and thoroughly observed anything which looked as if it may have a bit of cultural or historic significance … I probably went too far when I tried ( and failed) to pass off the public toilets as a magnificent piece of history ! Anyway, I can honestly say that I’m glad my wife did drag me along because Mauritius is a beautiful place with a diverse culture… and they speak English! – However the media is all in French! Mauritius has an array of astonishing forests and mountains , remarkable coral reefs and beaches , and is home to one of the most famous surfing spots – Tamann Bay. It was also home to the Dodo bird . The cuisine is a mixture of all the various cultures, so there is something for everyone .
